Sales Merchandiser for San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria
Altman Plants is a family owned wholesale nursery company recognized for innovation, marketing, high quality products and creative sales programs. We are in partnership with several key retail customers supplying flowering and specialty plants to their garden centers. We are passionate about open communications, customer service, people development and long term growth of the company. We have operations in California, Arizona, Texas and Florida.
We are looking for a sales merchandiser to service large retail chain garden centers in the San Luis Obispo/Santa Maria area. Responsibilities include stocking, consolidating and maintaining plant displays in coordination with sales representatives in the areas assigned. Successful merchandisers will be able to positively interact with a variety of people and enjoy working outdoors with plants and people.
- Must have a dependable vehicle.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
High school diploma or GED. One to two years job experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to interact effectively with customers or employees of our organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and have an acceptable DMV driving record. Must have and maintain current automobile insurance.

Dependability and punctuality are mandatory. Must be able to work a varied schedule which includes weekends and some holidays. Must have professional demeanor and appearance. Must observe and comply with all company policies and safety practices.
